This is a basic course of instruction that covers the fundamental principles of basic criminal interdiction for transportation interdiction officers. This 24-hour course is open to all federal, state and local law enforcement and will be conducted on February 4-6, 2014 at the DEA Seattle Division Office Training Room. Course hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Topics of instruction include search and seizure law, fairness in law enforcement, consent and detention, airport interdiction, computer analysis, visual courier characteristics, bus and train interdiction, parcel interdiction and controlled deliveries, hotel/motel interdiction, asset forfeiture, use and assistance of canines, fraudulent documents, EPIC Operations and EPIC access.
The course is limited to the first 75 participants. This course is provided free of charge by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Participants are responsible for any transportation, food and lodging expenses. Complete the attached registration form and fax it to Tony Stapleton, at telephone number 206/281-5245. You will receive a confirmation with further information, including hotel and lodging arrangements upon your enrollment into the course. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Please register early to insure your spot in the course.
This course offering is pending final approvals and is subject to budget restrictions that may or may not be imposed due to sequestration and other issues. If we are forced to cancel the course, registered students will be notified as soon as possible.
